Summer Story Selections
With longer days and more time in the evening to relax and unwind, summer is a great time to spend those evenings with your children reading. Reading before bedtime is a great routine that you can start in the summer and then continue once school starts back up. Starting off your new routine is great with some fun summer reads. In this series, I will provide you with a selection of books for elementary-aged children that are perfect to read aloud together that also have a fun summer theme.
One fun summer read is Pete the Cat: Pete at the Beach. This book is for early readers and is perfect for early elementary aged-children. It is part of a series of early reader stories about Pete the Cat. In this story, Pete has typical adventures at the beach like swimming, surfing, and having a cool lunch. Since it is a leveled reading, it is a book that younger children can use to read aloud or with support at home.
Another summer fun cat themed favorite is Splat the Cat: A Whale of a Tale. Again, another series of leveled readers based upon the tale of Splat beachcombing for the perfect shell for his grandfather.
